At our August meeting, our Women for America Chairwoman, Pamela Opland, and Carol Stalzer shared information and stories directly from soldiers that reflect the dire needs that they have. Can you imagine digging a hole to live in for several weeks, one shower a month, washing your clothes in a bucket, constantly rebuilding bridges and roads that get blown up, and heat? Linda Johnson shared that "All our American personnel deployed went on "rations" yesterday...they get one meal in DIFAC and the rest is MRE's...that is it until they pull out in September or sometime up through November now for some of the men. Pray for them please. It is chaotic inIraq and DANGEROUS time."
Given this situation,we’d like to step up our packages to the soldiers to help provide some comfort. If it can’t come from the government as it should, it needs to come from those of us who respect and appreciate their service. Below is a list of supplies needed by the soldiers we send packages to. Please review the list and bring what you are able to donate to the September meeting and our Women for America committee will send them on to our soldiers. Our soldiers are so appreciative of everyday items we take for granted here at home.
